Description
Zcore™ Form is a moldable collagen-enriched porcine xenograft designed for socket preservation and defect augmentation. Once hydrated with blood or sterile saline, the graft becomes cohesive and moldable, allowing the clinician to shape the material to match the geometry of the defect.
The material combines porcine cancellous bone mineral with porcine collagen, creating a graft that is easy to handle while maintaining the osteoconductive properties required for predictable bone regeneration.
Zcore™ Form is particularly useful when clinicians want particulate graft flexibility with cohesive handling, allowing adaptation to defects of varying shapes and sizes.
Composition
Zcore™ Form is a composite graft consisting of:
90% porcine xenograft particulate
10% porcine collagen (derived from porcine Achilles tendon)
The collagen component acts as a hydratable binder, giving the graft its moldable consistency after hydration while helping stabilize the particulate within the defect.
Moldable Handling for Defect Adaptation
When introduced to blood or sterile saline, Zcore™ Form hydrates rapidly and becomes pliable and cohesive. Once hydrated, the graft can be manually shaped and adapted to conform to the morphology of the surgical site, allowing precise placement in:
Extraction sockets
Ridge defects
Periodontal defects
Contained regenerative sites
Highly Porous Scaffold for Bone Formation
The porcine xenograft particles feature an interconnected macroscopic and microscopic porous architecture that supports vascular infiltration and bone ingrowth. The particles contain approximately 88% void space, resulting from the natural cancellous bone structure and intra-particle spacing created by rough particle morphology. This hyper-porous architecture:
Reduces graft bulk density
Creates space for new bone formation
Supports cellular migration and vascularization
Controlled Mineral Structure for Remodeling
The graft mineral is derived from porcine cancellous bone and processed through a controlled heat treatment designed to produce a mineral structure with crystallinity consistent with native bone mineral. This processing supports remodeling during the healing phase while maintaining the osteoconductive scaffold required for bone regeneration.
Common Clinical Applications
Zcore™ Form is commonly used in procedures where adaptability to defect shape is required, including:
Extraction socket grafting
Ridge preservation
Small to moderate bone defects
Periodontal regenerative procedures
