Description
Piezomed retrograde endodontic tips from W&H Dentalwerk are engineered for precise, atraumatic retrograde root canal preparation during apical surgery.
Diamond-coated ultrasonic tips enable controlled preparation of the root canal from a retrograde approach while minimizing trauma to surrounding structures. Multiple angulations and curvatures provide optimal access to the treatment site across varying anatomical situations. Upon insertion, the Piezomed system automatically recognizes each tip and assigns the appropriate power class to ensure consistent, safe performance.
Indications
-
Retrograde root canal preparation
-
Apical surgery (apicoectomy)
-
Retrograde access in confined surgical sites
-
Precise canal preparation with improved access and visibility
Tip Selection and Clinical Roles
Straight & Mildly Curved Access
R1D Tip for Piezomed
Angled, diamond-coated instrument for retrograde root canal preparation.
-
0.5 mm round tip
-
3.5 mm working depth
-
Diamond coating, 60 µm grain
-
Straight profile
-
Manufacturer-recommended settings: 45% power / 50% irrigation
Used for retrograde canal preparation with continuous up-and-down movement and no applied pressure.
R2LD Tip for Piezomed
Slightly left-curved, diamond-coated instrument for retrograde root canal preparation.
-
0.5 mm round tip
-
3.5 mm working depth
-
Diamond coating, 60 µm grain
-
Curved to the left
-
Manufacturer-recommended settings: 45% power / 50% irrigation
Improves access in situations where a left-hand curvature enhances ergonomics and visibility.
R2RD Tip for Piezomed
Slightly right-curved counterpart to R2LD.
-
0.5 mm round tip
-
3.5 mm working depth
-
Diamond coating, 60 µm grain
-
Curved to the right
-
Manufacturer-recommended settings: 45% power / 50% irrigation
Used for retrograde preparation where right-side access is preferred.
Extended & Strongly Curved Access
R3D Tip for Piezomed
Diamond-coated instrument with increased working depth for retrograde preparation.
-
0.5 mm round tip
-
6.0 mm working depth
-
Diamond coating, 60 µm grain
-
Sharply angled profile
-
Manufacturer-recommended settings: 45% power / 50% irrigation
Provides extended reach for deeper retrograde canal preparation while maintaining controlled, atraumatic cutting.
R4LD Tip for Piezomed
Strongly left-curved, diamond-coated instrument for difficult access situations.
-
0.4 mm round tip
-
3.5 mm working depth
-
Diamond coating, 60 µm grain
-
Sharply curved to the left
-
Manufacturer-recommended settings: 50% power / 50% irrigation
Used when pronounced left-side curvature is required to access the retrograde canal.
R4RD Tip for Piezomed
Strongly right-curved counterpart to R4LD.
-
0.4 mm round tip
-
3.5 mm working depth
-
Diamond coating, 60 µm grain
-
Sharply curved to the right
-
Manufacturer-recommended settings: 50% power / 50% irrigation
Provides mirrored access for demanding retrograde endodontic procedures.
Typical Clinical Workflow
-
R1D – Straight or neutral retrograde access
-
R2LD / R2RD – Mildly curved access for improved ergonomics
-
R3D – Deeper retrograde preparation
-
R4LD / R4RD – Strongly curved access for challenging anatomy
All tips are used with continuous up-and-down motion, minimal pressure, and manufacturer-recommended power and irrigation settings.
System Compatibility
