Description
NovaBone® Morsels is a 100% synthetic, resorbable bone graft material composed of a crystalline composite of Calcium Phosphosilicate (CPS). This particulate graft provides both osteostimulative and osteoconductive properties, promoting reliable bone regeneration in a wide range of dental and maxillofacial applications.
Key Features
- Particulate form made of crystalline composite Calcium Phosphosilicate (CPS)
- 100% synthetic and fully resorbable
- Stimulates osteoblast proliferation through osteostimulatory surface reactions
- Sustained resorption profile: 12–18 months
- Pore size: 0.05–0.10 mm
- Particle size: 0.5–1.0 mm
- Stable at room temperature — no refrigeration required
- 4-year shelf life for flexible inventory management
Osteostimulative & Osteoconductive Mechanism
Unlike most synthetic grafts that are only osteoconductive, NovaBone® Morsels also exhibits osteostimulative activity. Upon implantation, the material undergoes surface reactions that release Silicon, Calcium, and Phosphate ions, leading to new bone formation. These reactions trigger osteoblast proliferation, increased DNA content, and elevated osteocalcin and alkaline phosphatase levels. Gene expression studies confirm the upregulation of several osteogenic gene families in response to CPS exposure.
Handling & Application
The particulate form allows clinicians flexibility in packing and contouring the graft within a defect or socket. It can be used alone or combined with autogenous grafts or PRF membranes for enhanced outcomes.
