Description
The Tabanella3 and Tabanella4 Bone Chisels are microsurgical instruments designed for minimally invasive periodontal and regenerative surgery. Developed by Dr. Giorgio Tabanella in collaboration with Hu-Friedy, these chisels support precise, tissue-preserving osseous recontouring in interproximal areas where accuracy and control are critical.
Each instrument features a sharp cutting edge engineered for controlled bone removal, enabling predictable osteoplasty and ostectomy while preserving surrounding tissues and supporting esthetic outcomes.
Tabanella Bone Chisel 1 (TABANELLA3) Used as the initial instrument during periodontal osseous surgery, Tabanella3 is designed to perform interproximal osteoplasty. It helps create a natural buccal-to-lingual slope (approximately 10°) and removes interproximal bony craters to establish a biologically and esthetically favorable bone contour.
Tabanella Bone Chisel 2 (TABANELLA4) Used sequentially after Tabanella3, Tabanella4 is designed to perform interproximal ostectomy on the mesial and distal aspects of the root surface. It refines the surgical site by removing residual bony edges, supporting smooth contours and predictable healing.
Together, Tabanella3 and Tabanella4 provide a structured, stepwise approach to interproximal bone management during osseous surgery.
