Description
Hu-Friedy Bernard Syndesmotome Spade Elevators are versatile surgical instruments designed to function as either periotomes or small root elevators. They are used to sever the periodontal ligament and assist in the elevation of small roots during atraumatic extractions.
These instruments feature a concave working surface approximately 3.6 mm wide and are manufactured from surgical-grade stainless steel for durability and consistent performance. Black Line versions are also available for enhanced grip, reduced glare, and improved tactile control.
Clinical use
Periodontal ligament severing as a periotome
Elevation of small root fragments
Atraumatic extraction techniques
Anterior and posterior applications depending on pattern
Design overview
Bernard syndesmotome spade elevators combine thin, sharp working edges with a concave surface that adapts closely to the root. This design allows controlled apical advancement and efficient ligament severing with minimal trauma.
Straight and angled configurations provide access options based on tooth position and anatomy.
Available patterns
BER11 Bernard Syndesmotome Elevator Straight design best suited for anterior teeth. Can be used as a periotome or to elevate small roots using the concave 3.6 mm working surface.
BER6 Bernard Syndesmotome Elevator Angled right pattern designed for posterior teeth. Used as a periotome or for elevating small roots, featuring a concave 3.6 mm working surface.
BER7 Bernard Syndesmotome Elevator Angled left pattern designed for posterior teeth. Functions as a periotome or small root elevator with the same concave 3.6 mm working surface.
BER6 and BER7 are commonly used as a complementary left and right pair for posterior access.
