Description

The Hu-Friedy Kramer-Nevins bone chisels are single-bevel instruments designed for controlled bone manipulation during oral surgery and extraction procedures. Each pattern in the series uses a mono-beveled cutting edge, but differs intentionally in bevel length and angle of attack — producing distinct cutting behavior suited to different surgical objectives.

The CKN3 is the primary extraction-adjacent instrument in this series. Its long bevel and gentle angle of attack allow progressive bone widening and splitting, making it well suited for creating access around impacted or ankylosed teeth where controlled expansion of the surgical site is required.

The CKN55 and CKN75 feature shorter bevels with a steeper, more acute angle of attack. This geometry concentrates force at the cutting edge for more aggressive bone engagement — useful for removing dense cortical bone, exostoses, and tori that obstruct surgical access or complicate extraction site management.

Manufactured by Hu-Friedy from surgical-grade stainless steel for durability, corrosion resistance, and consistent clinical performance.

Available Variants

  • CKN3 — 7.5 mm mono-bevel working end. Long bevel with gentle angle of attack. Designed for progressive bone widening and splitting during surgical access for impacted or difficult extractions.
  • CKN55 — 5.5 mm mono-bevel working end. Short bevel with steep angle of attack. Used for removal of dense cortical bone, exostoses, and tori obstructing extraction access.
  • CKN75 — 7.5 mm mono-bevel working end. Short bevel with steep angle of attack. Broader cutting width for more substantial cortical bone removal and exostosis management at extraction sites.
