Description
The Hu-Friedy Chandler single-bevel bone chisels (CC1, CC2, CC4) are mono-bevel instruments designed for controlled bone shaving, contouring, and removal during oral surgery and extraction procedures. All three models share the same 5 mm working width and mono-bevel cutting geometry — differing only in blade curvature, which determines how the instrument engages bone in curved or angled surgical sites.
The curvature variants are particularly relevant during surgical extractions where straight-line access is limited. The CC1’s light curve allows controlled engagement along gently curved bone surfaces. The CC2’s more pronounced curve improves access in posterior or anatomically complex sites where a straight instrument would lose contact or control. The CC4 is the straight variant, suited to direct, linear bone shaving where unobstructed access is available.
These chisels are effective for refining bone margins, removing cortical bone obstructing extraction access, and contouring the alveolar crest following tooth removal. They are also used in periodontal osseous surgery for bone reshaping and architecture correction.
Manufactured by Hu-Friedy from surgical-grade stainless steel for durability, corrosion resistance, and long-term clinical performance.
Available Variants
CC1 — 5 mm mono-bevel chisel with a light curve. Controlled bone shaving along gently curved surfaces; useful for extraction site bone contouring with moderate access constraints.
CC2 — 5 mm mono-bevel chisel with a more pronounced curve. Improved access in posterior and anatomically complex sites; maintains blade contact along curved bone surfaces.
CC4 — 5 mm mono-bevel straight chisel. Direct, linear bone shaving and cortical bone removal where unobstructed access is available.
