Description
The Hu-Friedy #7 sinus curettes are designed for controlled, atraumatic elevation of the Schneiderian membrane during sinus lift procedures. They are used to gently separate and reflect the sinus membrane from the maxillary bone after access has been established, supporting predictable membrane elevation prior to graft placement.
This instrument features a distinctive dual-end design to address different access challenges within the sinus cavity. One end incorporates a bayonet-shaped configuration for improved visibility and access around the lateral window, while the opposite end forms a tight 270-degree circular curve with an acute bend. This geometry allows controlled engagement of the sinus membrane along curved walls and in confined anatomical areas.
Both working ends are smooth and blunt to support delicate membrane handling without cutting, helping reduce the risk of perforation while maintaining tactile control. The #7 sinus curette is commonly used in lateral window sinus lift and maxillary sinus augmentation procedures.
