Description
Brand: Cytoplast®
Product Type: Non-Resorbable PTFE Membrane
Status: Legacy Product – Replaced by Cytoplast TXT-200
Overview
The Cytoplast GBR series defined the original benchmark for non-resorbable PTFE barrier membranes.
Made from high-density PTFE (dPTFE) with a pore size under 0.3 µm, the GBR-200 line offers a smooth, bacteria-impermeable surface that can remain exposed and delivers predictable guided bone regeneration results.
While now superseded by the Cytoplast TXT-200 featuring the Regentex™ micro-texture, GBR membranes continue to be valued for their handling ease, flexibility, and cost-effectiveness in routine ridge-preservation and extraction-site grafting cases.
Texture & Handling
- GBR-200 (Legacy): Smooth, non-textured surface for effortless trimming and adaptation.
- TXT-200 (Next Gen): Regentex™ hex-patterned texture that enhances flap stabilization and soft-tissue adhesion.
Clinical implication: The smooth GBR membrane is ideal when easy placement and low flap tension are priorities; the textured TXT version adds stability where tissue movement or multi-wall defects are present.
Available Sizes / Configurations
| Size | Pack Qty | Ideal Use Cases | Clinical Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 12 × 24 mm (10/pk) | 10 membranes per box | Single-tooth sockets • Small extraction sites • Minor ridge preservation | Thin, flexible format for delicate handling and quick trimming. Economical for frequent use or smaller defects. |
| 25 × 30 mm (4/pk) | 4 membranes per box | Multi-tooth or molar extraction sites • Moderate ridge augmentation | Larger coverage area provides excellent adaptability and tension-free placement over particulate grafts. Reduced per-case cost on larger defects. |
Key Features
- 100% dense PTFE (non-expanded, non-resorbable)
- Bacteria-impermeable; can be left exposed when no primary closure is possible
- Smooth surface simplifies placement and removal
- Predictable barrier for GBR, ridge-preservation, and periodontal repair
- Easily trimmed for defect-specific shaping
- Requires removal ≈ 4–6 weeks post-surgery
Specifications
- Material: High-Density PTFE
- Pore Size: < 0.3 µm
- Sterility: Sterile, single-use
- Removal: Non-resorbable; second procedure required
- Manufacturer Part #: GBR-200
- Origin: USA
Clinical Tip
Anchor membranes securely with tacks or fixation screws to maintain tension and prevent micromotion. GBR-200’s smooth PTFE surface removes easily without tissue tearing or granulation adherence.
