Description
All the airway protection of the C-Sponge Regular — with a long, thin retrieval tail for unobstructed, controlled removal.
The C-Sponge III (CSIII100) features the same oval core as the C-Sponge Regular, with one key addition: an elongated retrieval tail that remains accessible throughout the procedure without interfering with the surgical field. When it’s time to remove, the tail gives the clinician a clear, unobstructed handle — no probing, no repositioning.
Manufactured from highly absorbent polyurethane foam, it maintains structural integrity when fully saturated — resisting migration, collapse, and fragmentation from placement to extubation. Sold in bags of 100 for high-volume surgical practices.
C-Sponge Family: Which to Choose?
- C-Sponge Regular — Oval shape, standard retrieval. Best for routine cases where straightforward removal is expected.
- C-Sponge II — Teardrop shape with integrated retrieval extension. Preferred when faster, more visible removal is a priority.
- C-Sponge III — Oval core with long, thin retrieval tail. Ideal when an unobtrusive tail that stays accessible without blocking the surgical field is needed.
Why Surgeons Switch from Gauze
- Gauze migrates. The C-Sponge III’s foam structure and oval core resist displacement even under active suctioning.
- Gauze collapses. Polyurethane foam maintains its shape when wet — no bunching, no gaps in airway coverage.
- Gauze fragments. The C-Sponge III comes out as a single, intact unit — confirmed in one step via the retrieval tail.
- Gauze is hard to retrieve cleanly. The long tail stays accessible throughout the case, making removal fast and unambiguous.
Key Features
- Oval core with long, thin retrieval tail — stays accessible without blocking surgical access
- Same core size as C-Sponge Regular — familiar fit, enhanced retrieval control
- Highly absorbent polyurethane foam — maintains shape and position when saturated
- Secure, non-collapsing design — reduces risk of fluid aspiration
- Durable foam resists tearing or snagging during rotary instrumentation
- Allows active suctioning without dislodgement
- Smooth, atraumatic surface — gentle placement and removal
- Autoclavable prior to use when a sterile field is required (plastic cycle)
- Easy visual confirmation before extubation via retrieval tail
- Latex-free
Clinical Applications
- Oral and maxillofacial procedures requiring extended or unobtrusive retrieval access
- Routine and complex dental extractions
- Orthognathic and trauma-related jaw procedures
- Sedation dentistry cases requiring reliable airway protection and fluid control
- Cases where visual confirmation of complete retrieval is critical
