Description

All the airway protection of the C-Sponge Regular — with an integrated retrieval extension for faster, more confident removal.

The C-Sponge II (CSII100) is a teardrop-shaped polyurethane foam throat pack that matches the core size of the C-Sponge Regular while adding one critical upgrade: a built-in extension that improves visibility and access during removal. No searching, no snagging, no uncertainty before extubation.

Like the C-Sponge Regular, it maintains its shape when fully saturated — resisting migration, collapse, and fragmentation throughout the procedure. Sold in bags of 100 for high-volume surgical practices.

C-Sponge Regular vs. C-Sponge II: Which to Choose?

  • C-Sponge Regular — Oval shape, standard retrieval. Ideal for routine cases where straightforward removal is expected.
  • C-Sponge II — Teardrop shape with integrated retrieval extension. Preferred when faster, more visible removal is a priority — complex cases, deeper placement, or high-throughput practices.

Why Surgeons Switch from Gauze

  • Gauze migrates. The C-Sponge II’s foam structure and teardrop form resist displacement even under active suctioning.
  • Gauze collapses. Polyurethane foam maintains its shape when wet — no bunching, no gaps in airway coverage.
  • Gauze fragments. The C-Sponge II comes out as a single, intact unit — confirmed in one step via the retrieval extension.
  • Gauze is hard to retrieve. The integrated extension gives the clinician a clear, accessible handle for removal without probing or repositioning.

Key Features

  • Teardrop shape with integrated retrieval extension — faster, more visible removal
  • Same core size as C-Sponge Regular — familiar fit, enhanced control
  • Highly absorbent polyurethane foam — maintains shape and position when saturated
  • Secure, non-collapsing design — reduces risk of fluid aspiration
  • Durable foam resists tearing or snagging during rotary instrumentation
  • Allows active suctioning without dislodgement
  • Smooth, atraumatic surface — gentle placement and removal
  • Autoclavable prior to use when a sterile field is required (plastic cycle)
  • Easy visual confirmation before extubation
  • Latex-free

Clinical Applications

  • Oral and maxillofacial surgery where rapid, visible retrieval is preferred
  • Routine and complex dental extractions
  • Orthognathic and trauma-related jaw procedures
  • Sedation dentistry cases requiring reliable airway protection and fluid control
  • High-throughput practices where removal speed and confidence matter
