Description

Controlled, tremor-reduced placement for orthodontic traction attachments

Cusp-Lok® Placement Instruments are engineered to provide precise, stable handling during the placement and retrieval of Cusp-Lok brackets, eruption chains, and orthodontic traction pads. Designed for use in crowded or restricted surgical fields, these instruments help clinicians place attachments accurately while minimizing unintended movement.

Available in 4″ and 6″ lengths, with straight or curved working ends, they offer flexibility to match clinician preference, access depth, and anatomical challenges commonly encountered during expose-and-bond procedures.

How the “Squeeze-to-Release” Mechanism Works

The unique squeeze-to-release action is designed to improve control at the working end of the instrument:

  1. Preload the Cusp-Lok bracket, chain, or traction pad securely into the instrument tip

  2. Position the attachment precisely on the tooth or bonding surface

  3. Squeeze to release, allowing intentional placement with minimal tip movement

By maintaining a secure hold until deliberate release, this mechanism helps reduce hand tremor and improves confidence when working in deep, narrow, or difficult-to-reach areas.

Key Features

  • Squeeze-to-release mechanism for controlled preload and intentional release

  • Helps reduce tremor during placement for improved accuracy

  • Available in 4″ and 6″ lengths to accommodate access depth and hand preference

  • Straight tips for direct access and clear visualization

  • Curved tips for posterior access or challenging angles

  • Fine working tips designed to minimize obstruction of the surgical field

  • Stainless steel construction for durability and repeated clinical use

Clinical Applications

  • Placement and adjustment of Cusp-Lok brackets during exposure and bonding procedures

  • Handling and positioning eruption chains for impacted cuspids and bicuspids

  • Placement of orthodontic traction pads used in conjunction with Cusp-Lok systems

  • Use in both oral surgery and orthodontic environments where precise attachment placement is critical

Selection Guidance

Choose the appropriate length and tip configuration based on your preferred technique and the typical access challenges encountered in your surgical or orthodontic cases. Longer, curved instruments are often preferred for deeper or posterior sites, while shorter, straight instruments support direct access and visualization.
